Senior Designer

Job Description

The Senior Designer is a foundational role at OX. Senior Designers assist in the development of design research and integrated design solutions across a wide range of offline and online media, applications and experiences. This is a deeply hands-on role. We expect the Senior Designer to contribute meaningfully to client projects under the direction of the Design Director, to help nurture the talent of younger colleagues in the design discipline and to help better the practices of the discipline through their experience and dedication.

Responsibilities

  • Design of digital products, experiences, online and offline branding, and integrated marketing communications solutions.
  • Conceptualize and execute visual designs, systems and patterns across a wide range of media.
  • Help establish direction for your own projects and the projects of your colleagues and collaborators.
  • Participate in design research, concept creation and ideation for OX clients and teams.
  • Learn and collaborate with peers, mentors and managers in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Help advance the practice of multi-disciplinary design at OX.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited university program with an emphasis on design, communications, advertising or user-centered design.
  • 5+ years of experience in a design role in a professional services/agency environment.
  • Portfolio demonstrating areas of interest and client experience in agency environment.
  • Desire to learn and apply skills in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Expertise with the latest design and productivity software programs and techniques.

Senior Writer

Job Description

The Senior Writer is a core role at OX. Senior Writers assist in the development of content, copy and concepts across a wide range of mediums. This includes campaign concepts, enterprise websites, print and OOH advertising, online advertising, brand experiences, brand positioning, user interface elements, email marketing and much more. Reporting to the Director of Content Strategy and Writing, the Senior Writer is a versatile and polished communicator capable of solving complex challenges and developing original solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project teams to understand business objectives and user needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine conceptual and copy direction for digital products, experiences, online and offline branding, and integrated marketing communications solutions.
  • Translate creative direction and creative briefs into engaging and effective messaging and copy concepts.
  • Own the brand voice and establish messaging direction in every execution.
  • Collaborate with clients as a brand journalist to uncover the stories and insights that lead to meaningful messaging and concepts.
  • Participate in research, concept creation and ideation for OX clients and teams.
  • Lead junior and freelance team members as needed.
  • Learn and collaborate with peers, mentors and managers in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited university program with an emphasis on English, communications, advertising, journalism or other related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a copywriting role in a professional services/agency environment.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for diverse channels and audiences.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and understanding of web trends and technologies, including established and emerging capabilities.
  • Familiarity with web writing best practices including meta data, tagging and SEO. 
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and how to apply them in digital and print advertising.
  • Excellent strategic brainstorming, campaign development and creative execution.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload.
  • Solid understanding of graphic design, web development, interaction design and an appreciation of the relationships between textual, visual and functional elements.
  • Desire to learn and apply skills in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Comfortable in a direct client-facing role and leading client calls.

Design Intern

Job Description

The Design Intern assists in the development of design research and integrated design solutions across a wide range of media and applications. This is a hands-on role. We expect the Design Intern to learn and to contribute meaningfully to client projects under the direction of the Design Director and a mentor supervisor.

This position is a full-time, paid position for a 10-12-week duration starting in June. Potential to convert to full-time employee for the right candidate provided the circumstances allow.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team with design and production tasks for OX clients and OX internal projects.
  • Participate in concept creation and brainstorms for OX clients.
  • Must be able to quickly shift between assignments, have a great attitude, and strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • Current junior, senior or recent graduate of an accredited university program with an emphasis on graphic design, communications, advertising or user-centered design.
  • Portfolio demonstrating areas of interest and experience in school directed assignments or client work.
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 35 hours per week, 9AM-5PM on site in our East Loop office.
  • Desire to learn and apply skills in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Passion for design and systems thinking.

Compensation

  • Interns and hourly paid positions and do not qualify for medical, dental or other benefits.
  • Current students may qualify for education credit for participating in this program.
  • Consideration for partial transit/commutation re-imbursement.
